Dynamic bile acids - (Bile Acid Stimulation Test)

Fast for 8-12 hours and then take serum sample, feed a small quantity of food and then take a second sample 2 hours later.

Low dose dexamethasone test (Canine)

– In dogs take serum then inject 0.015mg/kg dexamethasone IV, resample at 3 and 8 hours.

– In cats take serum then inject 0.1mg/kg dexamethasone IV and collect serum at 6 and 8 hours.

– In dogs take serum then inject 0.1mg/kg dexamethasone IV, resample at 3 and 8 hours.

– take serum then inject synthetic ACTH (Synacthen 250ug for dogs) IV or IM and resample 2 hours later.

suppression test for horses – collect serum at 5 pm and administer 20mg/500kg or 40ug per kg dexamethasone IV, resample 18 hours later (10 am next day)

– In dogs take serum then inject synthetic ACTH (Synacthen 250ug) IV or IM and sample 1 hour later.

Dynamic progesterone test (Ovarian remnant)

(Ovarian remnant). In animals showing oestrus signs take serum, inject 500 IU (cats) 100-1,000 IU (dogs) HCG (Chorulon) IM or IV and resample 1 week later.

Dynamic oestradiol test (Ovarian remnant)

(Ovarian remnant). In animals without oestrus signs, take serum, inject 0.32 µg Buserelin (Receptal) diluted 1:10 IV and resample 3 hours later.

– take serum and then inject HCG (500 IU in cats, 200-500 IU dogs, 6000 IU horse) and resample in 1 hour.
