Environmental Allergy Treatments - Immunotherapy

In addition to offering a full range of environmental and food allergy tests for cats and dogs, we can provide you with advice on the management of allergy cases. Where appropriate we can provide effective treatment for canine and feline environmental allergic reactions in the form of allergen-specific immunotherapy.
Having determined what the animal is allergic too, it is possible to desensitise the animal to these allergens by preparing patient specific vaccines (Artuvetrin® Therapy). These allergen specific vaccines are available via prescription from CTDS on a named patient basis. When prepared, please allow 1-2 weeks, the vaccines are despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery or next day courier service to the treating veterinary practice. When administered at steadily increasing intervals and at higher and higher doses the vaccine aims to makes the immune system less sensitive to the substances that trigger the allergic reactions. It should be remembered that the likelihood of success is inversely proportional to the number of allergens used so we recommend reducing the number of allergens through the preparation of case specific vaccines.

Please contact the laboratory for further advice on allergy management and the most cost effective way of treatment.
